About The Author;       C. Lee Burdick is a retired (2008) Global Technical Research Manager of the former corporate entity Hercules Incorporated (1917- 2008). CLB created dozens of revolutionary, commercially successful inventions covering a spectrum of uses that included mineral processing, agricultural fertilizers, paint thickeners, paper coating additives, tile cement rheology modifiers (for hot dry climates), an additive for oil pipelines, and a new technology for wallboard manufacture,  among other things.  In those prior efforts, as in the present one, the advancement of science became an unexpected goal, since a common issue discovered in most of these research fields was that the heritage "understandings" were deficient.
